Spider and the Webs

Tobi Vail is pretty hard to argue with. Spider and the Webs is another one of her projects, and they put out a demo a few years back. I've been listening to it a lot lately, especially "A Kid Named Jay." You can find their EP at Ooga Booga along with a bunch of other cool and often hard to find released.
Look for Tobi on the upcoming Old Haunts album on KRS.

The Sonora Pine

When I've taken a break from all my Des Ark listening lately, I've been listening to the Sonora Pine. After Rodan broke up, Tara Jane O'Neil moved to New York and started the Sonora Pine with Sean Meadows.
I saw TJO play with Mirah a couple months ago, which was pretty awesome. All the the sixteen-year-old LA indie kids of course didn't have any idea of who she is.
Anyway, this is their sophomore album II. It's very pretty.

Pocahaunted

I've been listening to a lot of drone-psych type stuff this week. We got a package in at the station from Britt at Not Not Fun (who is in Robedoor) last week, which I suppose set it off. Anyway, I have not been able to get enough Pocahaunted. They're Bethany and Amanda from Eagle Rock in Los Angeles.



Here is one of their 3" CDRs released on Not Not Fun released last year. Only one song, but it's beautiful.
